Dog Biting Training

Dog biting is a regular activity for a lot of dogs. They bite and mouth each other by nature when playing with siblings, so they also extend this habit to the people as well. Dogs have thick skin so it doesn’t matter. Your dog might be cute and harmless when it bites you when it is young. However what can happen when it grows? Your dog has to learn not to bite. Actually it should be taught to control their bit before they reach the age of four months. That is why dog biting training is necessary from the early days.

One great method to inhibit the biting reflex is to allow the puppy to play yet socialize with other dogs. This is the best way for dogs to learn to control themselves when they bite. If one dog becomes too rough when playing, the rest of the group will punish him for that inappropriate behavior. Through this type of socialization, the dog will learn to control his biting reflex. Proper socialization has other benefits as well, including teaching the dog to not be fearful of other dogs, and to work off their excess energy.

Lack of socialization in puppies often causes fearful and aggressive behaviors to develop. Dogs often react aggressively to new situations, especially if they are not properly socialized. In order for a dog to become a member of the community as well as the household, it should be socialized to other people, especially children.

Teaching your dog to trust and respect you is a very effective way to prevent biting. Gaining the trust and respect of your dog is the basis for all dog training, and especially dog biting training.

Training a puppy not to bite is a vital part of any dog training program. If you dot correct your dog’s biting behaviors on time it will only get worse, and very dangerous.
