Are You Dyslexic? Ever Been Through Dyslexia Testing?

Oct 31, 2008 @ 10:04 pm by articles

One out of every 10 people has some sort of dyslexia. School-age children are now routinely screened for it. However, if you graduated from elementary school more than 15 years ago, it is likely that you never went through dyslexia testing.

Dyslexia is a neurological condition. A dyslexic’s eyes may see fine, but the signals his eyes send to his brain lose something in the translation somehow. Commonly dyslexia affects the ability to read, causing difficulty for the dyslexic to to read aloud, going from the written word to the spoken word or to spell properly.

The statistics show that about 1 out of every 10 people (about 10% of the total population) has the symptoms of some sort of dyslexia. Dyslexics over 30 or so years of age had no help from the educational system. They were stigmatized, belittled, classified as dull, slow learners, sub-par. They learned to hide their problems, worked out ingenious ways to conceal them.

The problem is dyslexics learn differently. Once diagnosed they can receive the special training they need to do practically everything that non-dyslexics can. But undiagnosed, they suffer needlessly in silence, taking jobs below their abilities to avoid having to read aloud or transcribe things, etc.

If you or anyone you know has difficulty in reading, in going easily between the written and the spoken word, then you or they might be dyslexic and should check yourself out. The first step might be to take a free dyslexia test, a screening test to check for dyslexia symptoms.

If the free test gives you any cause for concern, then consider a full adult dyslexia testing checkup. This can be done with a home dyslexia test that can be done online in the privacy of your home. It takes about half an hour and costs less than a dinner for two in a medium-good restaurant.

There is a good side to dyslexia that you need to get past the test and the dyslexic training regimen to access. There are many famous and successful dyslexics like entrepreneur/businessman Sir Richard Branson, singer-actress Cher and actor Tom Cruise to name only a few. Getting tested for dyslexia could open up a whole new life for you.

Going With A Natural Weight Loss Product

Oct 31, 2008 @ 08:01 pm by articles

Nothing is easy easy when we talk about to dieting but there are things that you can do to make the whole dieting process easier.. The weight loss product review will tell you that if you are going to use products to aid you in your dieting adventure then your best target is using a natural weight loss product. This kind of product is something that is going to naturally help you drop a few pounds without subjecting your body to harsh chemical and substances.

In the end, if you really want the little bit of help that a natural weight loss product can offer you should be okay. Of course, you will need to to want to talk with your doctor about the natural weight loss product just to make sure you will not have a harsh reaction to the product. The doctor should be able to get an idea on how safe the product use is for you and, based on your medical history, your current health, and the ingredients of the products, he should be able to offer a predictable outcome.

Where To Buy These Products

Once you have decided that you would like to try a natural weight loss then it is time to start looking around. This is because there are many different kinds of natural weight loss products on the market and you really want to be sure that you are choosing the right one for you. Make a search of all of the different choices to see which one seems right for you and then go for it. In the end if you do not like that particular natural weight loss product you can always get rid of it and try another one. Of course, when dieting avoid caloric food, like chocolates. Or maybe you can try organic chocolate, that even dogs can eat them.

Most of the time you will want to only shop in a drug store or department store because you can generally trust that the natural weight loss product you find there is safe. Be careful when finding great deals on the Internet. Make sure that you trust the company that is advertising on the web to make sure that you are not being scamed. Always check twice the tamper proof seal when it arrives in the mail, so you are sure that it has not been opened and that your natural weight loss product is intact. As long as you are safe about your purchases then you should be on the right track.

Mortgage Financing Resources

Oct 31, 2008 @ 07:08 pm by articles

Mortgage Fianancing – Things to consider! Mortgage financing is searched for by the majority of home buyers since most do not have the money to buy a home with all cash. Programs for mortgage financing come and go depending on the economy and the housing market. With a more robust housing market, there tends to be more creative mortgage financing programs (i.e. 100% financing, No documentation loans, seller financing, etc). Borrowers who really need the help often do not qualify under the restricted new requirements for financing assistance with justifiable mortgage interest rates, leaving them even worse off financially and emotionally.

To lure the purchasers, the home owner would offer the most advantageous mortgage financing deals while the buyer on the other hand, would compare to find the best mortgage financing program that would meet their financial abilities.

Buying and selling a home is one of the biggest lifetime business deals a person can enter into. Mortgage fianancing to buy a house would mean the realization of a dream, the tangible result of hard work and the result of penny pinching to some. Selling a home on the other hand, would be draining if it was brought about by a pending foreclosure.

Mortgage financing is determined by a number of factors: your credit, income, debts and the price of the house. These are the most important factors you have to consider in buying a home. Of course you wouldn’t want to face the threat of foreclosure if you choose a home priced above your capacity to pay neither would you select to be saddled with a house that is not to your liking though modestly priced. A word of caution: Never over state your income just to purchase a larger home and live beyond your means. The result may be you loosing your home to a foreclosure.

In mortgage financing, the home buyer can opt for the fixed rate mortgage or the adjustable rate mortgage (ARM). Because an ARM is usually lower priced as compared to fixed rate mortgage, they have the advantage of a lower initial monthly payment. In an ARM, the interest rate is tied to an index, meaning that if the index rises, your monthly payment increases and a dropping index would mean a smaller monthly payment. ARMs are less costly but the chance of foreclosure will be endured by the borrower if increased monthly payments are not met.

A buyer can choose to take the 15 year, the more popular 30 year or even a 50 year mortgage financing option. Lower interest rate and quicker equity build up is possible with a 15 year mortgage financing plan due to its shorter term. Complete job and income security is necessary for this mortgage financing. You may stand the risk of losing your house, if the accelerated monthly payment is out your financial means. Opting for the standard 30 year or even a 50 year mortgage is safer even thoughyou’re your repayment period is longer.

Currently, home buyers hoping to purchase a new home are being asked to come up with substantially higher downpayments, increase their credit scores, and/or buy properties in different areas. Sellers in this market can only watch as their pool of potential buyers gets reduced by mortgage fianancing troubles.

Student Laptop Insurance for School Students

Oct 31, 2008 @ 05:08 pm by articles

With the new academic year soon to start, the sales of Laptops, Notebooks, Cameras, iPods and mobile phones reaches one of the biggest peaks of the year, comparable with pre Christmas sales, as students stock up with all the latest gadgets for their new adventure of leaving home for the first time as they head of to University.

Most students are now expected to own a laptop computer by the School as part of the course, whilst worrying parents insist on the departure of their children is accompanied by the latest mobile phone; a simple trick to make sure the parents can ring their child whenever they want to check they are safe!

Many of new students will head for University halls of residence for the first year of the course. For most of the puples, this will be the first real time they have left home and had to fend and finance for themselves, which for many, this will prove to be a learning curve to say the least.

As the new pupel will be away from home for the first time, along with hundreds of other students, excessive partying is part of the course. There will be plenty of occasions throughout the first year when things will get out of control, especially when alcohol has been involved with young adults who have just found freedom!

Going back ten or twenty years things were roughly the same, except without the modern gadgets like laptops, mobiles and iPods. So when partys continued in the halls of residence after the student bars had shut, but there was not the same sort of valuable items in the students rooms.

The value of things is different today, electronic devices can easily add up to 1750 pounds and that is on the budget side of the market. With all of the potential dangers to these products from excited, partying students, it may well be worth considering Laptop Insurance that will cover for accidental damage and theft, but make sure water damage is included, as with all the partys, a knocked over bottle of drink could easily destroy a new laptop in seconds!

Now you could check your home contents insurance, as many companies offer ‘an away from home’ type of cover for expensive items, if you consider this method you should be aware of the following two points. Know what the excess fee will be, as is often a lot higher than stand alone policies. The second and important point that is worth knowing about is, if you make a claim on your home contents insurance, will you loose your no claims bonus? and or will the policy renewal premium sky rocket as you have made a claim?

When you make a claim on a stand alone policy the policy will often end after a claim, so you just take out a new policy at the same price.

Mobile Insurance that is a stand alone policy may well be worth a look at as well, but as with the Student Laptop Insurance, it is best to make sure water damage is included within the policy, as some insurance companies exclude water damage from the policy. This may sounds a bit bizire, but its just the way the insurance companies works and manages their liabilitys. So to get cracking value from stand alone Insurance Policies, check for liquid damage, as students will wreck or destroy thousands of electronic items with spilt liquids in the coming term!

The Way Forward For Business Magazines

Oct 31, 2008 @ 12:00 am by articles

There are thousands of business magazines in hundreds of different categories.

A lot of publishers now seem to be concerned about the longevity of this media, as online products seem to hold their own in the B2B world.

The truth is that business to business media is not dead. Whether you look at Building magazines or business management magazines there is always a place for vertical and horizontally targeted business media.

However, as most print media publishers strive for a piece of the online pie, some of them seem to be losing their identity when making the transition from print to internet.

Of course, online representations need to be a user-friendly mirror image of their hard-copy equivalent to stand any chance of complimenting each others selling points. For advertisers, it seems that online ticks more boxes in terms of usability and accountability. Far more advertisers like the idea of being able to track and monitor responses online and most print media finds it very difficult to do that these days.

However, print media has the distinct advantage of giving the reader more time to digest the information – it seems that everyone is in a hurry when reading information online. Do you think they are worried about wasting electricity?

One thing for sure is that business media still seems to fill part of our lives, whether it’s read in the coffee shop, the work place, or on the sofa at home.

Even though publishers of traditional media rely heavily on advertising revenue, more and more of them are now building ad packages around multiple offers for print and online formats. It is this that most advertisers are interested in these days as it seems to fulfill their budget requirements for corporate and response generating formats. If they can justify their ad spend then it is more likely to stay on the schedule for another year. Most publishers will be very happy to prolong any business in this current climate.

So, whether you buy advertising in business services magazines or potato industry news, we all have our own niche and favourite business media. The world of business media magazines and newspapers is certainly not dead as long as there is a reader and a market.

Just How To Fix That Leaky Faucet Fast ?

Oct 30, 2008 @ 11:03 pm by articles

A dripping shower faucet is possibly one irritant you can easily and happily live without.  A faucet that just doesn’t seem to stop leaking drains precious water, and may – in some cases – even flood your apartment or home if it isn’t fixed fast.

That said, most people do not seem to know just how to fix a leaky shower faucet .  They seem to believe that you need a PhD in plumbing and home repair to get the job done :-)

Luckily, it isn’t so hard to fix a leaking shower faucet. It definitely is not rocket science. Or even brain surgery. It is something most people can easily get done – if they knew how.

So here are a few do-it-yourself tips on repairing faucets …

There are mostly two broad categories of faucets. Those that have washers and those that do not.

Faucets that use washers may start leaking when the washer seat gets worn out, when the washer becomes hardened, or when the washers gets worn.

To start with, turn off the water supply to the faucet.

Next, take the faucet apart and examine the stem. If you see that the threads are corroded, replace the stem. You may need to clean the stem in case it’s dirty.

Now, examine the washer closely. If you see that the washer has a groove or has been squeezed flat, then you will need to replace the washer. This should stop the leak.

If you have needed to replace the washer of your faucet too many times, then you may need to replace the washer seat.

Now re-assemble the parts, taking care to apply a lubricant like slilcone grease or petroleum jelly on the stem’s threads.

And in case you think it’s a problem you think you can’t fix all by yourself, then you may either need to replace the entire faucet, or ire a professional to help you out.

Replacing a shower tub faucet may be a slightly different game. Especially if you are taking about one of those elegant, elaborately designed ones. You will have to take care that you do not damage the finish when you are taking the faucet apart. And if it’s a very expensive faucet and you aren’t a skilled do-it-yourselfer, then hiring professional help may be a smart thing to do. After all, you do not want to damage a heart-breakingly beautiful faucet, do you :-)

How to Install Your Own Kitchen Cabinets and Countertops

Oct 30, 2008 @ 10:02 pm by articles

Installing kitchen cabinets is probably one of the easiest do it yourself jobs there is. If you are careful about it, even if this is your first do it yourself job, you can do it successfully.

To achieve this, do what the professionals do, and use the right tools. If you want to make sure your cabinets will be securely attached and perfectly level, you have to have a good support system.

Unless you have a team to stand and hold the cabinets while you attach them, you will have to use a jack or other support. You are probably better off Wit this system than having a bunch of people who will just be telling you what to do.

People have used car jacks for this purpose, and there are also jacks specifically designed for this. But all you really need is a T brace that has a horizontal piece attached to a vertical piece. Wedge the cabinet into this brace so it is pushed in tightly against the wall and ceiling or overhang.

You have to be careful about slipping, especially if the floor are slippery. The cabinets may fall off the brace, so it is a good idea to use a few of them. They are cheap and easy to make. If your base cabinets have already been installed, you can use them as a base and just put a short jack on them to rest the upper cabinet on. In a pinch, you could even use a tall bucket with a phone book on the top of it, as long as it is stable.

You have to have find the studs to attach the cabinets to. Do not install the cabinets directly into drywall or wood panels. Today’s homes are constructed with studs a standard 16 inches apart. You can use a “stud finder”, available at a hardware store to find one, then follow along every 16 inches to find the next ones. Mark each stud in the center for more stability.

You may want to pre drill screw holes into the studs; you have to use a smaller drill bit than the screws you will use.

Before lifting the cabinets into place, predrill holes in them. You will need these holes for wiring, lighting fixtures, any racks you may want to install, etc.

Measure the wall and the cabinet and then lift the cabinet into place. Put it securely on your support, leaving at least 18 inches clearance over the countertop.

Fasten the cabinets onto the studs with three inch support screws, screwing through the trim or corner of the cabinet, not the thin walls of the cabinet. This may not always be possible, depending on where the trim or studs are, but try to use as many as possible. If you need additional support, you can use a 1X2 piece of wood placed screwed under the bottom of the cabinet at a stud position.

The best way is to place the bottom strips and put the cabinets on top; this will make support easier. The only problem with this is that you usually have to make some adjustments, and if you have screwed in the supports, you will not be able to do this.

Now you can install the door handles and other hardware, and voila! you have a new kitchen.

Cheap Doesn’t Have To Mean Poor Quality

Oct 30, 2008 @ 08:02 pm by articles

Isn’t it interesting that one of the top online searches often relates to the word cheap? I can’t help but wondering when we enter this phrase what do we expect to be greeted by? A cheap looking site? The cheapest price? Or are we looking for value for money?

So how does a merchant acquire goods that are available at the cheapest price? They can use buying power, that is the bigger the volume they order the greater the discount. This is how operators like Walmart operate.

Alternatively they can buy in bulk and sell via the internet. This means they have little in the way of overheads and can offer cheaper prices than their main street competitors.

The challenge for us as consumers is tracking down the cheapest price when we have the whole of the USA market from which to choose.

Now let’s be honest here for a moment cheap can often mean just that, cheap merchandise, cheap service, cheap quality. So how can we get a great quality product at the lowest possible price?

The answer is pretty simple and that is to turn to the used or pre-owned market. And perhaps, the best way to access this is through Craigs list or eBay. My preference is eBay and some of it’s specialist affiliate stores such as Cheap Kayaks, Cheap Strollers & Cheap Uggs Boots.

At stores such as these you can find offers on all the big brand names and many new as well as used items. You can reduce the risk of purchasing a dud by checking out seller feedback and because of the slight increase in perceived risk of buying from a person rather than a big name store the price reduces accordingly.

Coming back to my starting point I believe we are looking for the best value for money and eBay and it’s affiliate sites provide a great way to access a vast selection of superb value big brand name merchandise. In these troubled times sites such as those mentioned above deliver exceptional savings with minimal downside risk.

4 More Reasons Forex is Better Than Stocks

Oct 30, 2008 @ 07:05 pm by articles

1. No middlemen. Unlike equity exchanges, FOREX traders can access the market maker directly without having to go through an intermediary first. This means that a FOREX trader can buy or sell directly from the entity that decides on the price for a given currency pair. Because an extra layer of communication has been eliminated, FOREX traders benefit from cheaper costs and gain quicker access to trades.

2. No unfair influence. We’ve all seen it on T.V. or read about it on the news – talking heads telling us to buy when a stock’s price is plummeting, assuring us that everything will be alright in the end. The truth is that the only one that wins is the firm issuing that so-called advice while the average investor is left to lick his wounds. The FOREX market cannot be influenced by any one brokerage or person as it is representative of a country’s economic health and not opinion, and is therefore immune to any attempt at influence.

Another great tool for Forex trading is: Forex Killer

3. No choice overload. There are over 8000 stock available to trade on the NASDAQ and NYSE alone – that’s an awful lot of news to keep up with on a daily basis, and an awful lot of analysis to perform before you begin your next trade. Compare that to the FOREX market which, although it gives you access to dozens of different currencies, tends to focus on the four major currency pairs. This drastically reduces your research time and allows you to enter the market far more quickly.

There are also great tools to help you trade even more efficiently 24 hours per day like: Forex Raptor

4. Limited risk. FOREX traders must enable margin limits to mitigate risk. The trading platform of your choice will automatically issue a margin call if the margin amount required by your account exceeds the actual capital available in your account. What this means is that the most you can possibly lose is the money you have sitting in your FOREX trading account. With futures trading it is possible for a margin call to occur at a loss, leaving you liable for any amount not available in your account.

If you’re one of those that really wants to get serious about their Forex trading, then only the SERIOUS need apply at the Forex Brotherhood

Renewable Energy At Home For Under$200

Oct 30, 2008 @ 06:02 pm by articles

With our world slowly moving towards the end of its supply of fossil fuel resources, it is getting ever even more critical that we reduce our reliance on the depleting stocks levels of organic fossil fuel source of energy. Our reserves of fossil fuels are not renewable; they took millions of years to mature.

Renewable energy solutions refer to planetary powered energy solutions that can keep producing energy day in day out without draining our planetary resources. Several types of power generation can fall into this category of renewable energy: Solar Energy, Hydro Energy, and Wind Turbine Energy. All 3 of these energy types have always been available to man it’s just taken man kind a long time to learn how to harness the energy to our benefit, there is still a long long way to go as well!

Solar Energy Production: The sun produces far more energy than this planet needs. Unfortunately, we capture so little of it at present and that needs to change fast!
Making use of ample Solar Energy, we can all employ solar power solutions at home and it can cost a fraction if we follow this simple guide. This will not only cut down power bills but also help you contribute to a greener world. Solar power solutions can consist of of solar cookers, solar heating systems, solar lighting systems, solar dryers and producing electricity for use in the home or business, it can even be sold back into the national grid!

The sun has always been a source of heat and light energy. With the advancement of technology, the sun’s energy is getting cheaper and easier to collect and transform into electricity.

The solar energy systems have many advantages apart from being cost-effective and environment-friendly. They are low on maintenance thus saving your time and effort. Also, solar systems give you a return on investment very soon, thus making the systems free after some time. Cooking with solar energy is also considered extremely healthy. Families have started employing solar energy as a power solution at their homes.

Tidal Power and Hydro Energy Power: Hydro Energy is the capture of water energy and is an effective form of renewable energy. The capture of Hydro Energy into electrical energy is far from a new concept, it has been around for years. Hydro Energy is typically generated on a large scale although if you have a stream or brook running through your property, it is not to complex to make a basic Hydro System in some cases.

It has been estimated that 90 percent of the electrical energy produced by renewable resources is produced solely by hydro power. Dams are built to help generate electricity by tapping the water power.

Its worth pointing out that some conservationists voice concern about the consequences to wildlife in areas where Hydro Generation takes place.

Wind Turbines and Wind Powered Energy: Windmills have been in existance for many hundreds of years. They have helped pump water and were even used to tow boats pre the industrial reverloution. Now days wind turbines are a good source for generating electricity . Wind energy can help generate good volumes of electricity via Wind Turbines, but are reliant on a certain volume of wind. The larger the Wind Turbine the more efficient they can become.

When employed at individual estates, it can help supplement conventional power sources. An excellent renewable source of energy, the wind turbine could go a long way in promising a good future to generations to come.
